German energy group E.on (ETR:EOAN) said on Thursday it has decided to build the 228-MW Bruenning’s Breeze onshore wind farm in the US state of Texas.
E.on plans to construct the wind park in Willacy County. The facility will be the group’s 22nd US wind farm. Overall, it has installed over 3 GW of wind power capacity in North America to date. Currently, it is building the 278-MW Radford’s Run wind park in Illinois.
In a separate statement, Germany’s Nordex (ETR:NDX1) confirmed it has received an order from E.on to supply and install 76 units of the AW125/3000 turbines at the site of the future Bruenning’s Breeze wind farm. The IEC-2b machines it will deliver are designed for medium wind speed conditions, the company noted. They have rotors with a diameter of 125 metres (410 ft) and will be installed on 87.5-metre tubular steel towers.
E.on intends to commission the wind farm at the end of 2017.
