Enel unit to build 1 mln euro solar park for Kaufland Romania warehouse
Enel X Romania, part of Italian energy group Enel, said on Tuesday that it is building a 1 MWp solar park worth 1 million euro ($1.2 million) for retailer Kaufland Romania.
The photovoltaic system will be built near Kaufland's logistics center in Turda, in central Romania, and will have an annual electricity production of 1,277 MWh, contributing to the reduction of 595 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year.
The project involves the turnkey delivery of a system that integrates over 2,000 photovoltaic panels.
"Beyond the positive impact on the environment, photovoltaic systems lead to lower electricity costs, giving beneficiaries the opportunity to track their production and, consequently, to streamline their energy consumption," Enel X Romania head of sales and marketing e-industries Laurentiu Brumaru said.
The project is estimated to bring annual electricity savings of about 112,000 euro for Kaufland Romania.
"Green energy, which comes from renewable sources, is a sustainable alternative which helps maintain a clean environment and therefore, the company's goal will be to continue to invest in the future in such solutions with our partners," Kaufland Romania director of communication and corporate affairs Valer Hancas said.
Enel X is the advanced energy services division of Italian distributor of electricity and gas Enel.
Present in Romania since 2005, Kaufland is part of Germany's Schwarz Gruppe, which also operates the Lidl discount retail chain.
