Enel to build 54.4 MWp of DG solar arrays for Brazil's Itau bank

August 18 (Renewables Now) - Enel Brasil, through its energy services unit Enel X, will install 54.7 MWp of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems in Brazil for local lender Itau Unibanco SA (BVMF:ITUB4).

Itau has also signed an eight-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Enel Trading for close to 1 TWh of electricity.

The newly-contracted solar portfolio consists of 46 distributed generation (DG) systems comprising over 75,000 panels in total. They are expected to generate enough power for 1,557 bank branches in 14 locations. Enel will also coordinate the purchase of energy on the free market for another 564 branches.

The solar plants are expected to start operations in about 12 months.
