Enel Green Power buys 3.2 GW of solar projects in US

Enel Green Power North America has expanded its medium-term development pipeline by acquiring solar and solar-plus-storage projects in the Mid-Atlantic, Midwest and Western US with a combined direct current (DC) capacity of 3.2 GW.

The company has bought the schemes from Dakota Renewable Energy, a joint venture between Dakota Power Partners and Eolian, for an undisclosed amount.

In all, Enel Green Power has acquired 24 development-stage solar projects in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, West Virginia, Missouri and Colorado, including 450 MW of storage capacity tied to some of them. They are planned for commercial operation beginning in 2023.

The company noted that it is already involved in five hybrid renewables plus storage projects in the state of Texas. These are part of 2.3 GW of wind and solar capacity and around 600 MW of battery storage the firm is building across the country.
