Endesa X to install 7.5 MWp of solar panels for wood panel factory in Spain

Endesa's Augusto PV plant in Spain

April 15 (Renewables Now) - Endesa SA (BME:ELE) said that it will install two solar power systems totalling 7.45 MWp at two sites in Spain for Kronospan, an Austrian manufacturer of wood-based panels.

The Spanish utility will deliver the projects on a turn-key basis through its smart energy solutions business Endesa X, which will set up on-site solar generation systems at Kronospan’s factories in Burgos and Salas.

Endesa X will install the arrays simultaneously, using over 16,000 PV modules. The company expects to finalise the project in the second half of the year.

Once in operation, the Burgos and Salas solar power systems will produce some 9 GWh per year. Kronospan’s electricity consumption from the grid would be lower by 5%, Endesa added.

The new order for a self-generation and consumption system comes just days after Endesa announced it would build a 9.2-MW rooftop solar array for Japanese vehicle parts manufacturer Bridgestone Corp (TYO:5108). This project will also send Endesa X to the town of Burgos where Bridgestone’s factory is located.
