Ence generates renewable energy worth 129,000 MWh in Oct 2011

Nov 4, 2011 - Spanish power utility and pulp manufacturer Ence (MCE:ENC) generated a total 129,000 MWh of renewable energy in October 2011, up 3.3% on the year, the firm said yesterday.

Ence's three power generation plants in Spain, located in Huelva, Navia and Pontevedra, which use mainly biomass, produced 114,071 tonnes of cellulose in October or 3,680 tonnes a day. Their combined capacity amounts to 229 MW, of which 180 MW are exclusively from biomass and 49 MW from gas co-generation.

The company exports 85% of its output mainly to countries in Europe. Under its 2011-2015 development programme, Ence plans to build nine biomass power plants with a combined capacity of 210 MW for a total investment of EUR 525 million (USD 725.2m).
