EDP Renovaveis boosts power output by 8% in H1 2013
Jul 11, 2013 - EDP Renovaveis (ELI:EDPR), the green energy arm of Portuguese power utility EDP (ELI:EDP), boosted its output by 8% year-on-year to 10,716 GWh in the first half of 2013, EDP Renovaveis said in a regulatory filing from yesterday.
The biggest contribution to the overall increase came from Portugal and Spain. The output in Portugal grew by 26% to 888 GWh and the production in Spain increased by 18% to 3,111 GWh.
The electricity generated by EDP Renovaveis in Europe rose by 19% to some 5,000 GWh. For comparison, the output in the USA and Brazil inched up by 0.2% and 5%, respectively.
The total load factor stood at 33% in January to June 2013, compared to 32% a year earlier.
EDP Renovaveis managed a global portfolio of 8.15 GW spread over nine countries at end-June 2013. The company added 648 MW to its installed capacity in the 12 months to June 2013. There were further 270 MW under construction in the January to June 2013 period.
