June 12 (Renewables Now) - EDP Energias do Brasil SA (B3:ENBR3) has completed the construction of a 8.33-MWp photovoltaic (PV) plant in Brazil for local mall operator Multiplan.

Located in the state of Minas Gerais, the new PV facility required roughly BRL 30 million (USD 7.8m/EUR 6.8m) in investments, according to a Reuters report on Tuesday.

The complex consists of two solar plants with a total of 25,400 solar panels spread over an area of around 240,000 sq m (2.58 million sq ft). It is expected to generate 17.5 GWh per year, equivalent to the consumption of 9,700 homes. The solar park's output will be used to meet the total demand of Multiplan's VillageMall shopping centre in Rio de Janeiro.

Since 2017, EDP has secured orders for 15 similar solar projects totalling 25 MWp.
