EDF Renewables North America and Old Dominion Electric Cooperative (ODEC) on Wednesday announced the commencement of construction work on certain US solar plants with a combined direct current (DC) capacity of 22.5 MW.
The renewables unit of French utility EDF (EPA:EDF) said that this move represents the first phase of projects in ODEC's member service territories in Virginia and Delaware. The full portfolio capacity will add approximately 50 MW to several ODEC member communities.
The two parties entered into an agreement in 2019 to develop solar projects at prospective sites across ODEC's 11 retail distribution cooperative members. ODEC will be the off-taker of the solar output through fixed-rate power purchase agreements (PPAs).
