Dec 15, 2014 - French renewable energy firm EDF Energies Nouvelles (EDF EN) said today it has grown its operations and maintenance (O&M) portfolio to nearly 11 GW through new contracts in 2014 for over 1.84 GW.
The unit of French utility Electricite de France SA (EPA:EDF) has this year agreed to manage 656 MW of wind and solar parks in the US and a further 588 MW in Canada. Its North American O&M unit, dubbed EDF Renewable Services, now operates and maintains more than 8.5 GW of assets.
In Europe, EDF EN Services has an O&M portfolio of about 2.4 GW, including 599 MW of recently-signed contracts in Italy, mainly covering wind farms. The firm will be managing the Italian power stations on behalf of a joint venture with Edison SpA (BIT:EDN) and local investment fund F2i.
EDF Energies Nouvelles now has O&M activities in nine countries, including six in Europe, namely France, Greece, the UK, Germany, Poland and Italy. Thanks to the new additions in 2014, the company has grown its portfolio by 20% year-on-year, it said.
