Eco2, Merepark form JV to build 2.1-MW wind farm in UK
Nov 2, 2011 - Eco2 Wind, the wind power arm of British renewable energy developer Eco2, and asset manager Merepark have set up a joint venture to construct a 2.1-MW wind farm in the UK, Merepark said Tuesday.
The entity -- Merepark Eco2 Wind EIS Ltd -- will build the GBP-6-million (USD 9.6m/EUR 7m) wind farm on agricultural land in North Aberdeenshire, eastern Scotland. The facility will include three wind turbines, estimated to produce enough power to supply 4,200 households a year, and will be connected to the national grid.
The partners have funded the project through private equity, secured in association with Enterprise Corporate Finance Ltd, and a loan from the Co-operative Bank (LON:CPBB).
Merepark Energy, part of the Merepark Group, will coordinate the project. Eco2 Wind will manage the wind farm, which is scheduled to start operation at the beginning of 2012.
