Dong Energy, Vestas announce agreement on V164-8.0 MW turbine testing
Dec 12, 2012 - Danish utility Dong Energy has become involved in the testing of the V164-8.0 MW wind turbine made by Vestas Wind Systems (CPH:VWS), under an agreement announced on Tuesday.
Dong's involvement in the testing at Test Centre Osterild in Denmark comes earlier than previously planned. As a result, the company will be able to understand in detail and experience the new offshore wind turbine developed by Vestas at an early stage.
The cooperation agreement will also accelerate the new turbine's development.
In addition, Dong has decided not to install the V164-8.0 MW turbine as a test and demonstration project in Frederikshavn because most of the tests it had planned are included in the test scope prepared by Vestas.
The first turbine is expected to be built and commissioned at the Osterild test site in the second quarter of 2014, Vestas said.
