(SeeNews) - Feb 7, 2013 - Global drinks company Diageo Plc (LON:DGE) on Tuesday said it was now using renewable energy to meet 100% of the power needs at its North American headquarters in Connecticut.
The use of power from renewable sources, including wind and solar, would help cut carbon emissions at the Norwalk headquarters by over 92%, Diageo North America's president Larry Schwartz.
This is the fourth company location that is 100% powered by renewable energy. Meanwhile, half of the power consumed by Diageo globally is now derived from low-carbon sources.
Diageo also uses by-products at its manufacturing facilities to produce renewable energy, buys carbon offsets for its commercial vehicles and substantially improves energy efficiency across its operations.
