Danish NKT Cables gets EUR 100.7m submarine order for Baltic wind farm

Aug 9, 2011 - Danish NKT Holding A/S (CPH:NKT) said today its unit NKT Cables had won a deal worth DKK 750 million (USD 143.3m/EUR 100.7m) to provide subsea cables for the Baltic 2 offshore wind farm of German 50Hertz Offshore GmbH.

The Danish company will supply 60 km (37.3 miles) of armoured high-voltage subsea cables, as well as accessories and installation. The cables will be manufactured at NKT's facility in Cologne.

Baltic 2 will be located in the Baltic Sea, some 32 km north of the Ruegen island. With a total capacity of 288 MW, it will provide electricity for around 340,000 households. The wind farm is scheduled to start operations in 2013.
