London-based renewables investor Cubico Sustainable Investments has purchased a 26.4-MW portfolio of operational solar parks in Italy from funds managed or advised by Swiss private markets investor Partners Group.
The portfolio consists of 15 photovoltaic (PV) plants located in the regions of Veneto and Lazio in northeastern and central Italy, respectively. Having capacities of between 1 MW and 5 MW, the facilities have been generating electricity since 2011. Most of them have project finance in place, Cubico said on Tuesday.
Following the deal, the value of which was not disclosed, Cubico has expanded its Italian wind and solar portfolio to 233 MW. “We have a long history in Italy and this acquisition consolidates Cubico’s position as one of the largest owners of PV in the country which sits alongside our Italian wind portfolio,” commented David Swindin, head of EMEA at Cubico.
