ZAGREB (Croatia), October 10 (SeeNews) – Croatian state-owned power utility group HEP said its electricity production rose 7.6% to 15.8 terawatthours (TWh) in 2010.
The total electricity turnover reached 19.8 TWh of which 15.8 TWh was produced by power plants owned wholly or partly by the group and 4.0 TWh was procured in the regional market, HEP said in its 2010 annual report.
“For domestic customers’ needs and coverage of network losses, 17.9 TWh was ensured and 1.9 TWh was sold in the regional market. Domestic electricity consumption increased in 2010 by 1.4%,” the report said.
HEP said domestic electricity consumption increased 1.4% in 2010.
During 2010, other suppliers, outside HEP Group, became active in the electricity market taking over some customers from HEP Opskrba, the group’s unit that supplies electricity to eligible customers. Their market share is estimated to be up to 1.0%.
Sales to domestic customers amounted to 15.7 TWh of electricity in 2010 which is a mild growth of 0.4%, and the share of sales to eligible customers increased to 48% of the total sales in Croatia.
