Community Wind Power project of 75.5 MW gets nod in Scotland

Scotland has granted planning consent for a 75.5-MW wind project in the Lammermuir Hills, development by Community Wind Power Ltd, it was announced today.

The Aikengall IIa wind farm on the border of East Lothian and Scottish Borders was approved by the Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Jobs and Fair Work, Keith Brown, taking into account the findings of the Public Local Inquiry Reporters to grant consent. Once up and running, the park is estimated to produce as much power as nearly 35,000 households consumer per year.

On Monday, the Scottish government said it has also given the green light to the 72.6-MW Creag Riabhach wind farm on the Altnaharra Estate in Sutherland.

Community Wind Power commissioned in 2019 the 48-MW Aikengall Community Wind Farm. The company says on its website it has 800 MW installed, under construction and in development.
