Skip, Stonepeak sweeten bid for Australia's Genex Power
Aug 17, 2022 9:14 CESTFebruary 23 (Renewables Now) - Colombian power company Isagen SA said that it has agreed to acquire two 19.9-MW small hydropower plants (HPPs) located in the department of Antioquia.
The transaction with the plants’ owner, Colombian power producer Generadora Luzma ESP, will be closed in the coming weeks once all the paperwork and other formalities are finalised, Isagen said without disclosing financial details.
The latest purchase follows the company’s recent acquisition of two solar projects totalling 52.4 MWp at home from Chinese photovoltaics (PV) specialist Trina Solar Co Ltd (SHA:688599) and an announcement that its 20-MW Guajira I wind project is progressing towards the construction phase.
With new solar, wind and small hydro, Isagen is seeking to expand its footprint in the so-called non-conventional renewables, saying that these new green megawatts will involve a total investment of around COP 700 billion (USD 194.8m/EUR 160.3m).
Before agreeing to purchase the plants from Generadora Luzma, Isagen owned one 19.9-MW small HPP out of over 2,700 MW of larger-size hydro. The company also generates electricity from a 134-MW thermal power plant.
