The president of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos, on Tuesday unveiled a project to build a 1,360-MW wind power transmission line in La Guajira department.
The project aims to make the department a producer and exporter of clean energy to the country's National Interconnected System. Scheduled to enter operation in November 2022, the new transmission line can also help reinforce Colombia's entire energy system against any phenomenon that may affect it in the future, said president Santos.
In addition to the transmission line, the works include the construction of the new collector substation, which will be connected to the Cuestecitas and La Loma substations. In all, there are 370 km (229.9 miles) of electrical lines.
