Ciel & Terre start development on 2.5 MW floating PV array in Mie

Sep 6 (Renewables Now) - The Japanese unit of French solar company Ciel & Terre is building a 2.55-MW photovoltaic (PV) floating system in Tsu town, Mie prefecture.

The solar array, the capacity of which is given in direct current (DC), should be able to generate more than 2.27 million kWh annually. Operation is scheduled to commence in November 2017, according to a press release.

Japanese utility Chubu Electric Power Co Inc (TYO:9502) will act as the sole purchaser of the plant's output at a selling price of JPY 24 (USD 0.220/EUR 0.185) per kWh. Chinese solar manufacturer JinkoSolar Holding Co Ltd (NYSE:JKS) is the solar panel manufacturer while Spain's Power Electronics Corporation handles the power conditioning system (PCS).

Currently, Ciel & Terre has an additional five power generation projects in Japan, four in Tokushima prefecture and one in Nara prefecture, the company noted.
