Chinese LDK Solar lifts polysilicon capacity by 5,000 tonnes

(ADPnews) - Nov 30, 2010 - Chinese photovoltaic (PV) product maker LDK Solar (NYSE:LDK) said on Monday it reached the designed capacity of 5,000 tonnes of its second polysilicon train in the Mahong plant.

The plant, which has a capacity of 15,000 tonnes, includes three 5,000-tonne trains. So far LDK Solar has boosted its production capacity to 10,000 tonnes.

"Reaching capacity of the second train [...] will greatly expand LDK Solar's access to polysilicon and support our growing demand from our customers," the company's chief operating officer, Xingxue Tong, said.
