Chinese investors mull construction of 60 MW wind farm in Serbia - report

Chinese investors have expressed interest in building a 60 MW wind farm in Nova Crnja, in northern Serbia, according to Serbian media reports.

"Talks are under way with potential Chinese investors, as they would like to build a 60 MW wind farm," the mayor of Nova Crnja, Pera Milankov, said in an interview for news portal Zrenjaninski on Sunday.

The municipality of Nova Crnja has allocated 1,000 hectares for the construction of wind, biogas and solar power facilities and has prepared the planning documents for the area, Milankov said.

Last month, Serbia's energy minister Aleksandar Antic said he expects the country to add 250 MW of new wind power capacity by the end of 2018.

Renewable energy sources should account for 27% of Serbia's total installed power capacity by 2020 and the launch of new wind farms contributes to achieving this goal, Antic said back then.
