China Power New Energy’s output grows 70% y/y in Q1 2016

April 22 (SeeNews) - China Power New Energy Development Co Ltd (HKG:0735) said Thursday the combined output of all of its power plants has amounted to 1,962,666.75 MWh in the first quarter of 2016, up 69.77% year-on-year.

The company explained the improvement with certain capacity additions, which started to generate electricity this year. Among other factors with a positive impact on the company’s January-March production was a 121.8% on the year increase in its hydropower generation to 640,948.39 MWh.

China Power New Energy’s wind parks generated 506,078.76 MWh of electricity in the first three months of the current year or 3.25% less than in the corresponding period of 2015. In the meantime, the output of its solar plants surged by 71.48% to 51,547.5 MWh during the quarter under review, according to the statement.

The company controls an aggregate installed power generation capacity in operation of 3,642.5 MW, including 1,429.5 MW of wind. China Power New Energy also has 651 MW of hydropower plants (HPP), 163 MW of photovoltaic (PV) facilities and 78 MW of waste-to-energy sites in operation.
