(ADPnews) - Oct 18, 2010 - Electricity producer China Huadian Corp will pour CNY 9 billion (USD 1.4bn/EUR 976m) in two wind power developments in the Ningxia province in north-central China, newspaper Caijing writes, citing information from the state-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission.
The two wind projects are located in Xiji county and Haiyuan county. Construction works on the first 49.5-MW phase of the Xiji county wind farm have already begun and the plant is to come on stream at the end of 2011. The whole project will have an installed capacity of 500 MW, with the final phase to be completed in four to five years. Construction of the Haiyuan county wind farm, designed to produce 140 million kWh a years, will commence in 2011.
In 2010, China Huadian's installed capacity in the Ningxia province stood at one million kW. The company expects to double the figure by 2015, having plans to invest CNY 16 billion in Ningxia wind power developments during the five-year period.
At the end of September, China Huadian agreed with the local authorities in the city of Nanning, Guangxi province, to spend CNY 10.5 billion in green energy projects.
