Oct 30, 2014 - China’s National Energy Administration (NEA) said Wednesday it has suspended works on a 49.5-MW wind project in Henan province, developed by Sinohydro Corp Ltd, due to safety violations.
As part of a scheduled engineering quality supervision programme, safety inspectors from NEA visited 13 power projects under construction in two different Chinese provinces - 10 sites in Jiangxi and three more in Henan. While some of the projects had only minor problems, for which NEA issued recommendations, other power schemes were suspended.
The wind project, located in the city of Zhuzhou, failed to meet the relevant engineering requirements. Therefore, the inspectors issued a suspension notice to halt all construction work on the concrete foundations for the turbines and put offline the 110-kV station at the site.
The wind project involves the installation of 25 turbines of 2 MW each. The wind farm is expected to generate approximately 93.8 GWh of electricity annually, once completed.
Sinohydro is part of Chinese engineering and construction firm PowerChina, also known as Power Construction Corp of China (SHA:601669).
