SARAJEVO (Bosnia and Herzegovina), December 10 (SeeNews) – Bosnian power utility Elektroprivreda BiH [SAJ:JPESR] said on Friday China Development Bank is interested in participating in the construction of a 300 megawatt thermal power unit and in other energy projects.

Representatives of the Chinese bank showed interest in investing in the construction of Unit 8 of the Kakanj coal-fired power plant via establishing a joint venture company, purchasing equipment or providing credits, Elektroprivreda BiH, which operates the project, said in a statement. The statement was issued after a meeting between representatives of the Chinese bank and the Bosnian utility's director general Amer Jerlagic.

The Chinese investors were also interested in the planned construction of the 450 MW unit 7 of the Tuzla thermal power plant, estimated to cost some 840 million euro, Elektroprivreda BiH said.

They also inquired about projects for electricity generation from renewable sources such as the project for a wind park on the Podvelezje plateau and hydropower plants on the rivers Bosna and Drina.
