Chile's renewables share falls to 31.8% in July

Chile generated 31.8% of its electricity from non-conventional renewables in July, according to the latest report from the Chilean national energy commission (CNE).

In June, the renewables share of the power mix was 34.2%.

Power production from non-conventional renewables, which exclude large hydro, dropped by 5.4% month-on-month to 2,281 GWh gross. In annual terms, the renewables output increased by 10%.

Total electricity production in the country rose by 1.8% month-on-month to 7,170 GWh gross.

The total net installed non-conventional renewable energy capacity in the country rose to 13,358 MW in July from 12,850 MW in June, with 99.7% of it operating in Chile’s SEN grid system. At the end of July, renewables accounted for 41.4% of the total installed capacity in the country.
