(ADPnews) - Dec 13, 2010 - Chile's Punta Colorada wind farm, built currently by global miner Barrick Gold Corp (TSE:ABX), is 10% completed, it was officially announced on Thursday during the visit of the governor of Coquimbo region, Sergio Gahona, to the site.
The wind farm is built 70 km (43.5 miles) north of La Serena city, in the central-northern region of Coquimbo. It will initially have 10 wind turbines with a combined capacity of 20 MW and will be later expanded to 36 MW.
The initial investment is estimated at USD 50 million (EUR 37.7m), while the expansion will cost an additional USD 20 million.
