Chile not seen to reach 20% renewable energy by 2020

Sep 17, 2012 - Chile cannot achieve the renewable energy target of 20% by 2020 proposed by the government, according to the minister of Energy, Jorge Bunster.
Therefore, the government will stick to the target of 10% by 2024 stipulated in the current legislation.
The reason for the lowered expectations for the development of wind, solar, biomass, geothermal and mini hydroelectric power plants are technical and economic difficulties.
