Chile approves PV projects for USD 1.21bn - report
Aug 21, 2012 - Chile's environmental authorities have approved four photovoltaic (PV) projects worth a total USD 1.21 billion (EUR 970.5m) that will supply the northern power network SING, local daily Estrategia reported today.
The projects are Laberinto Este, Laberinto Oeste, Encuentro Solar and Crucero Solar, the first two located in the Sierra Gorda municipality and the other two -- in Maria Elena.
Laberinto Este and Oeste, proposed by local firm Helio Atacama, will have an installed capacity of 77 MW and 70 MW, respectively, and will require a total USD 410 million.
The other two projects, to be developed by Energias Renovables Fotones de Chile, will have a capacity of 180 MW each.
