Cemig registers 4.7 GW of wind, solar for Sept 13 tender

September 10 (Renewables Now) - Brazilian utility Cia Energetica de Minas Gerais SA (BVMF:CMIG4), better known as Cemig, has registered 4,700 MW of wind and solar energy projects for the auction that will be held on September 13, 2019.

In all, a total of 150 schemes representing 1,900 average megawatts (MWa) will take part in the auction, local media reported on Monday.

According to its previous announcement, Cemig will be awarding power purchase agreements (PPA) through its subsidiary Cemig GT for new capacities to meet demand in the Southeast, Midwest, South and Northeast markets.

Power supply is scheduled to commence on January 1, 2023 for a period of 18 years, ending on December 31, 2041. The tender had certain preceding conditions for the interested parties, such as having an installed capacity of at least 1 GW, Cemig noted.
