(ADPnews) - Sep 28, 2010 - Canadian photovoltaic (PV) projects developer OYA Solar Inc, a subsidiary of OYA Ventures LLC, will roll out a 3.5 MW rooftop solar power array on the facility owned by hollow structural steel sections maker Atlas Tube.
The project, located in Harrow, Ontario, is estimated to gulp down CAD 20 million (USD 19m/EUR 14m), OYA said on Friday.
When completed, the nearly 650,000 sq ft (60,390 sq m) spanning installation will provide 30% of Atlas' annual energy consumption.
OYA Solar said further that it would cooperate with strategic development partners such as Polar Racking (Polar), Conergy Canada and Tremco Weatherproofing Technologies. The first 500 kW of the system are anticipated to be commissioned by spring 2011.
In 2009, Ontario was the third largest market for PV installations in North America. The Canadian Solar Industry Association (CanSIA) estimates that nearly 100 MW of ground-mounted systems will be installed in Ontario this year. OYA noted that it would carry on to play a significant role in spurring Ontario's solar growth and is actively looking for new projects to add to its 30 MW portfolio.
