California school district breaks ground on 8.2 MW solar plus storage

Fresno Unified School District (Fresno USD) in California and ForeFront Power last week broke ground on an 8.2-MW solar-plus-storage project.

The project will consist of solar parking canopy systems at eight sites of the school district and will feature energy storage solutions provided by Stem Inc. It is expected to deliver over USD 27 million (EUR 23m) in cost savings to Fresno USD over 20 years.

Fresno USD selected ForeFront Power after a statewide request for proposal process in the autumn of 2017 that was conducted together with School Project for Utility Rate Reduction (SPURR).

Construction of the solar canopy systems has started at four sites and will begin in the coming weeks at the remaining four.
