Bulgarian renewable energy company Filkab Solar, part of local electrical equipment manufacturer Filkab, has started the construction of a 4.5 million euro ($5.3 million) solar park with 8MW capacity near the city of Plovdiv, local media reported.
The investor in the project is a manufacturing company based in the town of Asenovgrad, in Plovdiv region, which will use the electricity generated by the photovoltaic (PV) facility for its own needs only, business news outlet Capital.bg reported last week.
The site has already obtained all of the necessary permits. Construction works are expected to be completed by the end of this year, Capital.bg quoted Atanas Tanchev, executive director of Filkab, as saying.
Last year, Capital.bg reported that Filkab planned to invest an estimated 9 million euro in the construction of a 15 MW solar park for its own needs. Works on the project, to be located near Plovdiv, are at an early stage, but the construction will possibly start as early as 2021, Tanchev said at the time.
Plovdiv-based Filkab is specialised in the supply, distribution and trade in electrical equipment such as cables and wires, cable fittings and accessories, electrical and automation devices, lighting and electrical materials. The company is also active in the delivery of equipment for renewable energy installations through its unit Filkab Solar, according to information published on its website.
