Preliminary figures show that some 1,939 tonnes of biodiesel were produced in Bulgaria in 2008, the Bulgarian government said on Thursday.
Of these, 138 tonnes were exported and the rest was consumed on the local market, the government said in a statement.
The production of biofuels in Bulgaria dropped to 3,000 tonnes in 2007 from 20,000 tonnes a year earlier due to the reluctance of local fuel traders to mix oil-derived fuels with biofuels.
Bulgaria aims to raise the use of biofuels to 10% of its total fuel consumption by 2020.
