BSW-Solar says cost of PV installations falls 13% in 12 months
(ADPnews) - Oct 7, 2010 - The price of photovoltaic (PV) installations in Germany fell by 13% over the last twelve months, German solar industry association Bundesverband Solarwirtschaft (BSW-Solar) said.
The association's president Guenter Cramer said solar module manufacturers have improved production efficiency which resulted in lower installation costs.
The cheaper equipment, combined with expectations for a drastic reduction of feed-in-tariffs (FITs) from January 1, 2011, is driving up demand for solar power systems in Germany.
According to BSW-Solar newly installed solar capacity will hit 8 GW in 2010.
By comparison, California-based research outfit iSupply earlier this week said Germany will build up 6.6 GW of new installs in 2010, rising to 9.5 GW in 2011.
