Bristol City gets GBP 2.5m in EIB funds for renewables, energy efficiency - report
Dec 23, 2011 - The Bristol City Council has secured GBP 2.5 million (USD 4m/EUR 5m) in funds form the European Investment Bank (EIB) to back renewable energy and energy efficiency projects, BBC News said.
The council also intends to form its own energy company, the report said.
The funds from EIB will be invested in renewable energy schemes throughout the city, such as solar and wind power facilities, which could open as many as 1,500 jobs, BBC reported. In addition, the Bristol City Council will spend part of the amount to enhance the energy efficiency of more than 6,000 homes and public buildings.
