Brazil's biodisel production hits 321,000 cu m in March

Brazil produced 321,000 cu m of biodiesel in March, a stable level compared to the previous month, the Ministry of Mines and Energy said on Tuesday.
In the first quarter of the year, biodiesel production stood at 892,000 cu m in Brazil, according data from the Renewable Fuels Monthly Bulletin, which covers biodiesel and ethanol production.
Brazil reached an installed annual production capacity of 7,243,000 cu m in March, with the top biodiesel producing region being the midwest with a 40% share of the total. The south followed with a 38% share and the southeast region came third with 13%. The northeast and the north were fourth and fifth with 6% and 3%, respectively.
Ethanol production totalled 648.9 million litres in March alone and 1,477 million liters in the first three months of the year, marking 24% growth year-on-year.
