Brazil’s Atiaia Renovaveis to build 27.5-MW solar park for local glass maker
Solar PV plant in Brazil
November 10 (Renewables Now) - Brazilian glass manufacturer Vivix Vidros Planos will power its production facility in the eastern city of Goiana with a 27.5-MW solar plant that will be built by domestic renewables company Atiaia Renovaveis.
The Maravilhas I photovoltaic (PV) park is set to commence operations in January 2024, Vivix announced on Tuesday. The power generated by the solar farm will be enough to meet all the electricity needs of the factory in Goiana, Pernambuco state. Maravilhas I will power also the company's second plant which is scheduled to open in the second half of 2025.
Both companies belong to Brazilian conglomerate Grupo Cornelio Brennand.
To be located on a 85-hectares (210 acres) site 1.6 kilometres from the Vivix factory, Maravilhas I is part of the Maravilhas Complex with a total installed capacity of 227 MW, Atiaia pointed out in a LinkedIn post.
Vivix Vidros Planos’ president, Henrique Lisboa, noted that the partnership will make the Vivix factory the first in the region to have its electricity needs met 100% by a solar park.
