May 16 (Renewables Now) - Brazil's power sector regulator Aneel announced on Tuesday that the country is aiming to award projects for 2,563 km (1,592.6 miles) of transmission lines in its June 28 auction.

The tender will have a total of 20 batches in 16 states.

The construction works for the power lines will have to be completed within 36 to 60 months from the date of the concession contracts signing. In addition to the transmission lines, the tender will also have 12,223 MVA of substations for bidding, Aneel noted.

The government estimates that the bidding process and the resulting developments will attract around BRL 6 billion (USD 1.6bn/EUR 1.4bn) in investments.
