Brazil Centre-South ethanol output falls 7.83% Y/Y Apr 1-Oct 15, 2012

Oct 25, 2012 - The ethanol output of Brazil's largest sugar cane producing region Centre-South registered an year-on-year drop of 7.83% to 16.744 billion litres (4.423bn gallons) in the period between April 1 and October 15 this year.
Hydrous ethanol output totalled 10.001 billion litres, down 10.24% in annual terms, data of the Brazilian Sugarcane Industry Association (UNICA) showed yesterday.
Anhydrous ethanol output, in turn, recorded a slide of 4.01% to 6.743 billion litres.
The volume of crushed sugar cane from the season's start to October 15 totalled 419.3 million tonnes versus 437 million tonnes processed in the same period of the previous crop year, UNICA added.
In the first half of this month alone, the crushed sugar cane, however, jumped by 62.11% on the year to 38 million tonnes.
Over the past several weeks, ethanol production and sugar cane crushing are making up for the slow start of the current crop year, which started on April 1 and will end on March 31 next year.
