Brazil approves commercial operation of 50.4 MW of wind
Brazilian power sector watchdog Aneel has given the green light to domestic energy trader 2W Ecobank SA to start the commercial operation of 50.4 MW of wind turbines in the country's northeastern region.
With Aneel's approval, the renewables company now gets to generate power from three wind turbines of the Anemus Wind I wind farm and nine from the Anemus Wind II park.
These plants are part of the 138.6-MW Anemus Wind Complex, situated in the city of Currais Novo, in Brazil's Rio Grande do Norte state. Featuring a total of 33 wind turbines, the complex requires an investment of BRL 750 million (USD 151.7m/EUR 139.3m), according to 2W's press release.
The company also noted that Aneel's dispatch marks the start of the commercial operation of its first power generation asset.
