Bosnia’s Elektroprivreda RS Sets up JV for 159 MW Hydro Power Project

BANJA LUKA (Bosnia and Herzegovina), April 20 (SeeNews) – Bosnia’s Serb Republic said its power utility is setting up a joint venture company with one of its units for a 180 million euro ($261 million) hydro power project.

Elektroprivreda RS and its subsidiary Hidroelektrane na Trebisnjici signed on Tuesday a contract for the establishment of a joint venture company for the construction of the 159 megawatt (MW) HE Dabar power station, the government said in a statement.

The project should be implemented over four and a half years, the Republic’s President Milorad Dodik said in the statement.

The power station will produce 251 gigawatthours of electricity per year, local media reported earlier this month.

Hidroelektrane na Trebisnjici operates three hydropower plants along the Trebisnjica river in the southern part of the Serb Republic, which together with the Muslim-Croat Federation make up Bosnia.

The Dabar power station will be part of the planned 250 MW hydro power complex Gornji Horisonti, which is designed to incorporate two other smaller plants, Nevesinje and Bileca.
