BNDES projects up to 25% Y/Y rise in 2012 loans to wind power sector
Aug 31, 2012 - Brazil's National Social and Economic Development Bank (BNDES) expects its loans to local wind power sector to grow between 20% and 25% this year compared with 2011, the bank's alternative energy department chief, Antonio Tovar, affirmed yesterday.
The executive, who spoke at the third edition of the Brazil Wind Power conference in Rio de Janeiro, grounded his projection on the loans approved so far.
Last year, BNDES extended a total BRL 3.4 billion (USD 1.666bn/EUR 1.321bn) to wind energy ventures.
According to BNDES' data, in 2010, its wind sector loans summed up BRL 1.2 billion.
