BNDES okays USD 965.8m financing for 26 wind parks
Dec 14, 2011 - The Brazilian National Social and Economic Development Bank (BNDES) yesterday said it approved a BRL 1.8 billion (USD 965.8m/EUR 740.5m) financing for the construction of 26 wind parks in northeastern Rio Grande do Norte state.
The parks, which require a total investment of BRL 2.6 billion, will have a combined installed capacity of 628.8 MW.
According to BNDES, the facilities are divided among four different projects, dubbed Uniao dos Ventos, Projeto Sao Bento, Asa Branca and DESA Morro dos Ventos.
With these new loans, the total funds approved by BNDES for wind power projects this year has reached BRL 3.3 billion, by 275% more than in 2010, the bank noted.
