BNDES lends USD 340m to three wind complexes in Piaui

October 15 (SeeNews) - The Brazilian Development Bank, or BNDES, approved on Wednesday three loans, totaling BRL 1.3 billion (USD 340m/EUR 298m) to support the development of wind complexes with a combined capacity of 436.7 MW.

Based in Piaui state, the Chapada do Piaui 1, 2 and 3 wind complexes will comprise 247 wind turbines that meet BNDES's domestic content policy. In addition to the BRL 1.3 billion, another BRL 9.1 million will be granted for social investments.

According to the Brazilian Wind Energy Association, or Abeeolica, Brazil has so far installed 298 wind farms with a total capacity of 7.5 GW.
