BNDES approves USD 40.3m for 136.5-MW wind power plants
Jul 31, 2013 - Brazilian National Social and Economic Development Bank (BNDES) yesterday approved a BRL-92-million (USD 40.3m/EUR 30.4m) loan for the construction of five wind power plants with total capacity of 136.5 MW and adjacent transmission lines.
The funds will be extended to five special purpose companies, controlled by local funds Enerplan Participacoes Societarias and FIP BB Votorantim Energia Sustentavel I, II and III, responsible for the complex.
The five plants, which form a complex dubbed Faisa, are scheduled to start operation by the end of 2013.
In 2012, BNDES allocated BRL 3.1 billion to fund the construction of 63 wind plants. This year the bank is seen to boost the financing to such projects by 15%.
