Bioethanol consumption in Germany grows 4.7% Y/Y in H1 2011

Oct 7, 2011 - The use of bioethanol in Germany advanced by 4.7% in annual terms to a total of 569,000 tonnes in the first half of 2011, the German bioethanol industry association (BDBe) announced today.

This means that the share of bioethanol on the German fuel market currently stands at 5.7%, BDBe said.

On the other hand, bioethanol production in Germany is declining. A total of 243,000 tonnes were produced in the first half of 2011, down by 20,000 tonnes a year earlier, the association said.

Against the background of growing sales of the E10 biofuel, the market share of bioethanol is seen further climbing in the course of the second half of 2011, the association reported.
