BayWa r.e, Nestle ink PPA for 50 MW of new solar in Spain

April 20 (Renewables Now) - Swiss food and beverage producer Nestle SA (SWX:NESN) will support the construction of a new 50-MW solar farm in Spain through a ten-year power purchase agreement (PPA) it signed with German renewables developer Baywa r.e. AG.

Thanks to the PPA, Baywa r.e. will get to realise its Picon solar farm project, sited in the Spanish region of Castile-La Mancha, and supply 62 GWh of power per year for Nestle’s operations in Spain and Portugal, the German firm said in a press release today.

Baywa r.e. has been developing the Picon project since 2017, and expects to be able to commission the solar farm in the first quarter of 2023, it said.
