Weekly renewables M&A round-up (May 16-20)
May 20, 2022 17:01 CESTNovember 17 (Renewables Now) - Swedish company Azelio AB (FRA:4AZ) said that it has secured an order from South Africa to supply eight units of its energy storage systems with 1.3 MWh of storage capacity.
South Africa-based farming company Wee Bee Ltd placed the order, which is valued at around USD 1.2 million (EUR 1.06m) over 15 years, including expected price increases. Azelio said.
Per the contract, Azelio will supply its long-duration energy storage product TES.POD and deliver the system by the end of 2021.
The Swedish storage specialist in collaboration with its UAE-based partner Alec Energy will proceed to the installation, start-up and commissioning of the units.
A mixed farming company, Wee Bee Ltd consumes around 1.9 GWh of energy per year, and as many in South Africa's farming community, needs access to affordable and reliable power, according to Azelio.
Paired with solar PV, Azelio’s TES.POD unit can help cut energy-related CO2 emissions by 323 tonnes and ensure a round the clock power supply, the company added.
